Talk the Talk of Internets
Found this from Christianne, I learned this.
For chats and blogs
When you don’t want to use your family members’ real names on your blog or on forums:
* DH / DW – Dear Husband / Dear Wife
* DS1 / DDs / DC – Dear Son (1 meaning he is your first son) /
Dear Daughters / Dear Child (this is usually Dear Children, meaning children of mixed genders). Used in a sentence: I’m panicking! My DH is going away on a business trip and I have to talk care of my 3 DDs, all under the age of 3!)
When you’re showing your appreciation or affection, say:
* JUAD – Jumping Up And Down. An extreme version is JUADLAM (Like a Monkey). Used in a sentence: You’re having a baby? That’s such exciting news, I’m JUADLAM!
* LYLAB / LYLAS – Love You Like a Brother / Sister. If your teenage son is courting a girl he met online and she tells him, LYLAB, he’ll probably go into his room and not come out for days.
When you’re engaged in a debate or discussion, say:
* YMMV – Your Mileage May Vary; originated from car commercials who claim that their car goes xx miles to the gallon, but the customer’s actual results may be different. In forum and chat talk, this is similar to saying, JMHO or Just My Humble Opinion. Used in a sentence: The movie was terrible and I didn’t think the lead actor and actress had any chemistry at all, but YMMV.
* IANAL, but… – I’m Not a Lawyer, but this is my take on this legal issue.
To insult somebody’s computer skills:
* PEBCAK – Problem Exists Between Chair and Keyboard; often used by system admins or tech support to describe callers who insist that their computer isn’t working properly when they just didn’t know how to use it in the first place. A synonym of PICNIC – Problem in Chair, Not in Computer.
On blogs or when chatting:
* TMI – Too Much Information, usually said at the end of a disgusting blog entry. Used in a sentence: Today Little Junior’s diaper contained a liquidy green soup topped with corn kernels… oops, TMI?
* IIYWIM – If You Know What I Mean. Best used in a sentence with sexual innuendo and a winking smiley
Now go use these acronyms and make some of your friends scratch their heads and wonder when you got so l33t!
